Fast forward nearly 175 years and the rest of the world has discovered wine’s best-kept secret too, with New Zealand’s oldest wine region now joining a small but mighty group of Great Wine Capitals of the World.

Along with 11 other prestigious wine producing regions including Bordeaux (France), Napa Valley (USA), Bilbao (Spain) and Adelaide (Australia), Hawke’s Bay has been awarded the accolade of a Great Wine Capital thanks to its innovation and diversity in wine production across 25 different soil types and 38 varietals.
